Tour of Sugar Australia

We had a short tour of the sugar factory by Derek.

The deceiving silo was not what it seemed, we had both believed it was full of sugar but it was in fact a maze of pipes, tanks, conveyors and everything else associated with receiving and delivering sugar to the packing machines and the ship.

From the silo we walked through a conveyor pipe to a distribution shed and from there followed the bottom pipe (which you cant see in the photo) through to the wharf.  We didnt have time to venture up the top pipe you can see in the picture to the top of the silo.

We followed the bottom pipe to this distribution point and then continued through the pipe on the left which led to the wharf.  The pipe to the right is the one which leads to the top of the silo - a walk for another day so we have been promised

The walk to the wharf inside the conveyor pipe to the ship distribution building and saw the workings inside there - awesome.  descended an external staircase back down to the wharf - and then to work - DAMM
